Thx for the invite. I am very interested in the publishing aspect as I am in the process of do just that. I too read The Afterlife of Billy fingers. After reading the book I didn't get what all the rave reviews were about. I found it not that interesting except for the part where her brother was floating in space by himself and towards the end merging with the Divine? The merging part sounded somewhat fairy tale based in my humble opinion. I have read so many of these types of books and seem to be ending up with the attitude; another waste of money. So I decided to go within and find out my owntruth. It's all about perception and in the end each spirits experience will be different. Peace to you
Hi Donna - I just read your review of Annie Kagan’s book, The Afterlife of Billy Fingers. Greatly enjoyed and appreciated it! Your last paragraph contained a mountain of meaning in a few well chosen words. Very effective.
Subsequent to being blitzed with beautiful and meaningful image/quotes taken from the book on Facebook, I too read it — in bits and pieces. Picked it up and put it down, really perplexed, kept thinking, I should be believing this. Like you, I wanted to believe, I wanted it to be real. But it was so off base. I remain amazed at the five-star reviews it received on Amazon. I did get a chuckle out of one reviewer's simple statement: “Four hours of my life I’ll never get back.”
Thanks for getting back to me so soon. Sure...it sounds like fun. Although I use the local library computer and am not too familiar with some of the ins and outs of online messaging, I'll figure it out. There is one book, in particular, that I've read that deals with the NDE and the Christian point of view. Rev. John Price wrote this most unusual book because, as an Episcopal minister in Houston, he accepts the validity of the NDE. He also believes, as I do, that these real spiritual experiences are blessings from God. So, I'll get back to you once I finish re-reading his work. It is unusual because very few active ministers investigate and then support this phenomenon. The title is "Revealing Heaven," and you can check it out if you're interested. I'm signing off now, but I'll be back. All My Best. Bob
Thanks for offering me a chance to join the Book Discussions & Reviews discussion group. You can count me in, but since I am not familiar with this part of the website, how does this group work? Do you ask for recommendations and reviews of books I've read on these subjects? Or do I join in a discussion that's in progress? Or do we read and review a book you recommend, sort of like a traditional book club? Let me know how to follow your roadmap; I'm sure it will be an interesting journey. Bob Landro
